Kyle Schwarber's Solo Homer Hands Phillies 1-0 Lead Over Blue Jays

Schwarber's Sixth Homer of the Season

Philadelphia Phillies left fielder Kyle Schwarber launched his sixth home run of the 2023 season in the top of the fourth inning against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night. Schwarber's solo shot gave the Phillies an early 1-0 lead at Rogers Centre.

A Well-Hit Ball

Schwarber's home run came on a 1-2 curveball from Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt. He turned on the pitch and drove it an estimated 400 feet over the left-field wall. According to Statcast, the ball left Schwarber's bat at 105.3 mph with a launch angle of 28 degrees.

Schwarber's home run was his first since April 16th, when he went deep twice against the Miami Marlins. He now has 14 RBIs on the season.

A Much-Needed Spark

Schwarber's home run provided a much-needed spark for the Phillies, who had struggled to score runs in their previous two games. They were shut out by the Chicago Cubs on Sunday and managed just one run in a loss to the New York Mets on Monday.

The Phillies will look to build on Schwarber's home run and earn their first win of the season against the Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
