Former NFL quarterback Nick Foles has announced his retirement from the league after 11 seasons. The Super Bowl LII Most Valuable Player (MVP) made the announcement on Thursday after much thought and consideration.
Foles, 33, played for several teams throughout his career, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Indianapolis Colts. He is best known for his historic performance in Super Bowl LII, leading the Eagles to a 41-33 victory over the New England Patriots despite being a backup quarterback.
Foles, nicknamed "St. Nick" by Eagles fans, had a successful career despite being a late-round draft pick. He had a record of 61-53 as a starter and passed for 14,958 yards, 102 touchdowns, and 43 interceptions. He also won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award in 2018.
Foles' retirement marks the end of an era for Philadelphia Eagles fans who will fondly remember his heroic performance in Super Bowl LII.
